Family Devotionals: Philippians 1:21

Starter:
Sometimes its just hard to choose. Youve got two things you want to do really badly, but you cant do them both. Thats the way the apostle Paul felt. He wanted to preach and teach others about the Gospel, but he also wanted to go to heaven and be with God. Christians enjoy life because they get to serve the Lord, but even more than that, we look forward to being with our Savior someday in heaven!

Weekly Memory Verse:
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21

Discussion Questions:
Beginner: Where do God and Jesus live? Where do we get to go when we die?

Intermediate: Why is heaven the place we want to go to? Why do you want to go to heaven?

Advanced: What does Paul mean when he says, to live is Christ? If heaven is so wonderful, why did Paul still wish to stay here? How does living for Christ on this earth make us want to go to heaven even more?

Recommended Activity:
Song: When We All Get to Heaven

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessèd
Hell prepare for us a place.

Chorus
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
Well sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Chorus

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

Chorus
