• The Council: The Jewish Supreme Court known as the Sanhedrin. It included both Pharisees and Sadducees.
  
• Pharisees and Sadducees: Two religious parties of the Jews who differed on the reality of angels, spirits and the resurrection of the dead. They had disputed about these things bitterly over a period of many years.
  
• Caesarea: Headquarters of the Roman Occupation of the Holy Land.  Felix, the governor, lived there.
