In the context of our theme verse Paul writes, “We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” (I Thessalonians 5:14) This week we will look at ways we can accomplish those tasks.
Our congregational theme for 2009 is to “abound more and more.” In this article we discuss abounding in Bible study. It is important that we not only attend Bible studies, but that we devote ourselves to them.
Recently I was asked, “Why are you a Christian?” The question was not why I had decided to obey the gospel, but rather why I am a Christian and not a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu or a follower of some other world religion. As such religions multiply in our country this question will be asked more often, and we must be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks us (I Peter 3:15).
Can people really change? Yes they can! This text gives us examples of all different types of people that changed for the Lord. And the glory must go to God!
Overcoming addictions can be very difficult, but with a dependence upon God and His word you can overcome them. God never tempts beyond what a person can endure.
Maintaining purity in this world is a struggle, a daily struggle. You can’t let down your guard even for a moment. Our struggle is not unique. There were Christians in the Sciptures who kept themselves pure. This should offer us some measure of hope.
We must grow in purity. We must press on toward God’s high calling, remembering that it is only by His grace that we can attain the desired level of purity.
Two easy steps to allow someone else help you with your struggles. Don’t fight this by yourself! We’re your family! We love you! Let us help!
To run our lips carelessly and in an undisciplined way is foolish, but to do it over and over again is to be a fool. We all make mistakes with our tongue. James said that anyone who never stumbles in word is a “perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.” (James 3:2) But only a fool will continue to repeat the same mistakes. Don’t ruin your life! Don’t lose your soul (Matthew 12:36) because of your tongue! Learn to control it before it is too late!
