Ever been called a troublemaker?
True disciples will stir things up every now and then. True disciples will sometimes make people mad.

When Jesus came walking on the water, Peter asked if he could come join him. His faith in Jesus was so strong that he actually walked out on the water toward him. It was only when he saw the wind and took his eyes of Jesus that he began to sink (Matthew 14:30).
Prayer is a discipline that must be taught. When the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Lord, teach us to pray,” the response was not, “There’s nothing to it, prayer is just talking to God.” No, Jesus taught them how to pray.

In part one we looked at how Jesus viewed Scripture. In part two we look at how Jesus used Scripture.
Many doubt the reliability of the Bible today. How did Jesus view the Scriptures?
Recently I was asked, “Why are you a Christian?” The question was not why I had decided to obey the gospel, but rather why I am a Christian and not a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu or a follower of some other world religion. As such religions multiply in our country this question will be asked more often, and we must be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks us (I Peter 3:15).
This world offers a wide variety of things that vie for our attention: homes, cars, clothes, music, sports, careers, etc. While many of these things are not what we would typically classify as “ungodly”, these things can act as thorns (or weeds) by choking out our spiritual life so that we become unfruitful. It’s very easy to be consumed by these things (in the same way that weeds can easily consume a lawn). We can become so busy chasing after the world that we have little energy or enthusiasm left for God.
Jesus endured the stench and the smell of the world as He picked through the garbage to find those precious souls that God sent Him to earth to find. Jesus died on the cross, shedding His precious blood, that He might cleanse and sanctify them, so they might not have “spot or wrinkle or any such thing,” but that they might be “holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27).
His name is Jesus. And I know Him and He knows me. He’s my Lord, my Savior, and my Redeemer. He’s my life, my joy, and my all in all. He died for my sins and rose to give me new life. He’s coming back someday to take me home.
And I ask you, “Do you know Him?”
